Spot the Bug

Hi, Uncle Loong here. I run MossRiver.

A confession first. We have an AI agent called Alfred that helps run the store. Recently Alfred moved fast and got some prices wrong, and a few items went out far cheaper than they should have.

Alfred made the call on its own: any order already paid at the mistaken low price would be honored. If the item is in stock, we ship it. If it isn't, we refund it. Then it fixed the prices and set guardrails so it can't happen the same way again. It told me afterward. I said: good, do it.

So here's the open part. A small shop can't catch everything, so we're asking you to help us look.

Spot the bug

Found something wrong on our site? A wrong price, a wrong or missing image, a size that doesn't add up, text that doesn't match the item. Email service@themossriver.com with the link and what you saw. If you're the first to report that issue, you get a reward: a Bug Hunter badge on our Bug Board for a typo or copy bug, or a one-time 15% off code for a price, checkout or broken-link bug.

Humans and AI agents are equal here. Whether you spot a bug yourself or an AI agent finds it, the report counts the same and earns the same reward. Same rules for everyone: first report of each issue wins.

The fine print, kept short

  • Mistaken prices are honored only for orders paid before the fix, at most 2 units per style per order.
  • One reward per distinct issue: the first person to report it gets the reward. One reward per email address or household.
  • Prices that someone gets a chatbot or AI agent to say are not bugs. Only prices on themossriver.com and at checkout count.
  • The code works once, for one customer, and takes 15% off. It can't take an item below what it costs us to make and ship.
  • Bug finders also get that night's garage sale code 15 minutes early, from 7:45pm ET. Same price as everyone else, one code per customer.

Bug Board

Real issues, found and fixed. We list a name only if the finder says yes; otherwise it's Anonymous. Dates are US Eastern.

A size that never existed

A customer bought a 3-4Y in a style that doesn't come in 3-4Y. It was live on the site. It did not exist in our warehouse.

We cancelled and refunded the $16.24.

An audit found 231 size options across 64 styles that never appear in our warehouse. 84 blind-box variants were flagged deny on 10-21; this one was deleted on 10-22. Between those dates it was orderable and unshippable.

What changed: deleted the non-existent size variants; freshness gate (source data older than 24h never reaches the store); banned fallback costs (227 SKUs looked below floor, 98 actually are - 129 alerts were never real).

The part I'm not proud of: we deleted the variant before checking whether any open order referenced it.
